Question

How do you stop yourself from overeating? unfortunately I've been doing this alot lately, eating and eating when I'm not hungry. I do this because the food is in the house and I don't want it going bad. I know I should not bake/buy it, but now that there is a growing boy (aka Adam) in the house we have lots of junk/sweets and I can't stop eating them! HELP!!!

  1. i know that when i have a hard time over eating i'll put up signs or little post its that remind me, "are you really hungry?" "are you bored?" that kind of thing...and then i'll put other things like, "if you're not hungry, go to ten pushups, or situps, or crunches...etc."

    hope that helps~

  2. honestly i just reason with myself and say are you hungry? i usually respond no. do you need fuel, etc... sometimes i give in if i really want something sweet and i'll just incorporate it into one of my snacks or dessert for the day but most times i just try to reason with myself :) good luck!

  3. I think you should talk to your sweetie and see what he's willing to do to help you. If I feel the overeating monster is about to make an appearance, I tell Rob, even if I don't want to, and then we take a walk, watch TV without eating, etc. Also, there are certain foods he likes that just aren't okay to have in the house. He keeps them at work instead. Does that help at all? I know it's hard.

  4. I believe you are overeating because you are restricting too much otherwise. Your meals are TINY (a pretzel stick or two with a sandwich... not even a serving size!). And you label foods "good" and "bad." You are developing (may have already developed) a scary relationship with food that is not very positive. Every food is fine in moderation. I think you need to recognize these thought patterns and work on making them more positve... and increase your normal meal and snack sizes. This may seem scary, but it will help you from feeling deprived (even if it's only a sub-conscious feeling, it's still obviously there), and this may keep you from overeating.
